Pehchaan is a monthly performance and education series that began in 2002. It started as an offshoot of the Pandit Shambhu Maharaj Kathak Academy, with the idea of introducing the students to classical and traditional art forms from all over India. These performances, that are open to the general public, as well, are then often followed up by workshops for the students.

As of the last one year this series has grown and now includes a short performance by a young student of the academy as well as invites outstanding kathak dancers from other institutions to be part of an exchange programme.

In the past, artists who have been part of this series, have included:
Dr. Kapila Vatsayan, Sh. Sadanam Balakrishnan, Smt. Madhavi Mudgal and Smt. Shanti Sharma to name a few.
